Lift

Lady in Sunflower Field with Hands lifted up

As soon as I discovered our Five Minute Friday word was lift, this verse came to mind, “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord!” Psalm 150:6, reminds us to lift up our voice in praise to the One True God who is worthy of all praise.

And, “I will lift up my eyes to the mountains; from where shall my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. He will not allow your foot to slip; He who keeps you will not slumber.” Psalm 121:1-3, brings such comfort to us as we know we are not alone and the He will always respond when we lift up a cry for help.

Then my heart turned to blessing others and this verse came to mind, “The Lord bless you, and keep you; the Lord make His face shine on you, and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up His countenance on you, and give you peace.” Numbers 6:24-26, reminds us that He is the One who sustains us.

Then my heart turned toward all of creation to join with us in welcoming the Lord of glory,

“Lift up your heads, O gates,

And be lifted up, O ancient doors,

That the King of glory may come in!

Who is the King of glory?

The Lord strong and mighty,

The Lord mighty in battle.

Lift up your heads, O gates,

And lift them up, O ancient doors,

That the King of glory may come in!

Who is this King of glory?

The Lord of hosts,

He is the King of glory.”

Psalm 24:7-10

As we lift up His Name today, I pray that He would ‘lift up His countenance on us and give us peace’ today. And as He is lifted up, may He draw all men to Himself. May our hearts be encouraged by His Words of Life, may our spirits be lifted up and our feet skip as we delight in Him. Blessings of peace!

  1. Great scriptures illustrating “lift”! Also love your graphic! Lifting our arms, praising and sunflowers … they go perfectly together.

It seems like I can almost always find inspiration for writing in the Psalms!
