God Hears Our Cry – He Does Not Ignore Us

God Hears He Does Not Ignore

God Hears Us

I am so thankful that we do not “serve [false and foreign] gods, the work of human hands, [lifeless images of] wood and stone, which neither see nor hear nor eat nor smell…”1 Our God is alive and hears us when we call. He is not a lifeless god that ignores us.

“In my distress I called upon the Lord, and cried to my God for help; He heard my voice out of His temple, and my cry for help before Him came into His ears.” ~Psalm 18:6 NASB

“The righteous cry, and the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles.” ~Psalm 34:17 NASB

Our God hears us and delivers us!

God Responds

There are many stories in the Bible of people calling out to their idols, yet the people are ignored by their idols because they are just wood, metal or stone. Yet the Living God not only hears the voice of those who call upon His name, but He responds.

“For He did not despise or detest the suffering of the oppressed. He did not ignore him; when he cried out to Him, He responded.” ~Psalm 22:24 NET

“But know that the Lord has set apart for Himself [and dealt wonderfully with] the godly man [the one of honorable character and moral courage—the one who does right]. The Lord hears and responds when I call to Him.” ~Psalm 4:3 AMP

God Does Not Discriminate

We must ignore man’s discrimination and follow God’s pattern for “there is [now no distinction in regard to salvation] neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you [who believe] are all one in Christ Jesus [no one can claim a spiritual superiority].”2

“Even before there is a word on my tongue [still unspoken], behold, O Lord, You know it all. You have enclosed me behind and before, and [You have] placed Your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is too high [above me], I cannot reach it.” ~Psalm 139:4-6 AMP

“This is the [remarkable degree of] confidence which we [as believers are entitled to] have before Him: that if we ask anything according to His will, [that is, consistent with His plan and purpose] He hears us.” ~1 John 5:14 AMP

  1. The people made a golden calf
    while Moses fetched the tablets,
and I bet that he did laugh
when he thought back on their habits
of doubting God is real and good
    like they were not awake;
I mean, he’d seen a piece of wood
    get turned into a snake!
He probably then shook his head
    and gave a mighty sigh.
He was supposed to be their head,
and now he was That Guy
who was forced, to order bring,
    to resort to breaking things.

  2. Lisa, thank you for encouraging me this morning with this post. Our God hears and responds to His children when we seek Him. May I not ever ignore Him for He responds in love and wisdom knowing what is best. Blessings!

  3. Thank you Lisa,

I have come to realize that God truly hears and delivers us from our troubles, but sometimes He may say “no” or lead us down a different path than what we expected. At first, this can be challenging to understand, but through my own personal experiences, I have learned to trust that He always has a purpose in mind. That’s why I make it a point not to despair and to look not only at God’s actions but also at His heart. By getting to know Him and His character, I have found peace and comfort in knowing that He is always in control. So I strive not to lose hope and to deepen my relationship with God, trusting in His plans for me, even when they may be different from what I had initially expected.

    Lots of Love,
    Aritha

    1. So true, Aritha, sometimes He says “no” and I agree, leaning into Him and getting to know His heart brings great peace and comfort. He is so kind to reveal Himself to us! The Lord bless you! In His Love, Lisa

  4. Hello,

I am proof that God never responds to anything. 43+ years since I became a Christian. 43+ years of nothing but silence, absence, broken promises (Bible), and unanswered prayers. No matter what I do, God never does anything. My spiritual journey is broken due to God’s lack of involvement in my life. I don’t have a relationship with God as He never participates in that relationship. Relationships require participation from both parties. God is never here to participate. God is neglecting me. Zero involvement equals neglect. God’s lack of involvement proves that He doesn’t care about me. I would ask that you pray for me. A prayer to have God actually help me, actually get noticeably involved in my life. Thanks

God bless you through the Holy Spirit, in Jesus holy name, Amen.

    1. I believe God answers all prayers, Kenneth. Sometimes He says, “Yes.” Sometimes He says, “No.” And sometimes He says, “Wait.” We don’t always appreciate the answer we receive or the timing of the answer, but I believe He answers us.
And sometimes God asks human vessels to be His arms and feet, but they don’t obey, so the manifestation of the answer isn’t expressed on the earth – though that was His heart and will.
And sometimes the other side interferes as we see when Daniel prayed, and the answer was delayed 3 weeks by demonic beings.
So, He hears our prayers, He answers our prayers, but the manifestation of the answer is sometimes different than what we expect and that is where trust or doubt appears before us, and we have to make a choice on which way we will believe and walk out our belief.

  5. Lisa,
Who am I that God is mindful of me? The scriptures you highlighted (and I especially liked the amplified versions) remind me that God not only hears me, but responds — not just sometimes, but every time. Beautiful post!
    Blessings,
    Bev xx

  6. Good timing that I read this today, as I needed a little reminder that God hears me when I call. Thank you. Visiting from Sweet Tea & Friends today.

  7. It’s so amazing that the God of the universe wants to hear our prayers and cares about even the hairs on our heads. We may not “feel” like He is near, but we can trust by faith that He is.

  8. Lisa, this is so beautiful and so true. I’m encouraged by your words today.
I appreciate you sharing this wonderful message with Sweet Tea & Friends this month dear friend.

  9. I am so thankful that God always hears our prayers and answers. He may not answer in the way we expect, but His answer is always just right for us. His way is best. Blessings to you, Lisa!
