A Chance for Real Love
Taking a chance on love is risky for our hearts. For all of us long for love. Real love. Deep love.
God took a chance by sending His only Son to die on the Cross for our sins.
“For God so [greatly] loved and dearly prized the world, that He [even] gave His [One and] only begotten Son, so that whoever believes and trusts in Him [as Savior] shall not perish, but have eternal life.” ~John 3:16 AMP
God took a chance by loving us, and we can take a chance by receiving His love for us.
“We love Him, because He first loved us.” ~1 John 4:19 AMPC
After receiving His love, we can share His love with others.
“Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God…for God is love.” ~1 John 4:7, 8b NASB
“So if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed.” ~John 8:36 NASB
Time and Chance
King Solomon says time and chance will overtake us, so we need to walk in wisdom by fearing God and keeping His commandments. And Jesus says the greatest commandment is to love God.
“Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might; for there is no activity or planning or knowledge or wisdom in Sheol where you are going. I again saw under the sun that the race is not to the swift and the battle is not to the warriors, and neither is bread to the wise nor wealth to the discerning nor favor to men of ability; for time and chance overtake them all.” ~Ecclesiastes 9:10-11 NASB
“The conclusion when all has been heard, is: fear God and keep His commandments, because this applies to every person.” Ecclesiastes 12:13 NASB
“Jesus said, ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the great and foremost commandment. The second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’” ~Matthew 22:37-39 NASB
Let us take a chance on real love by receiving God’s love for us, then sharing His love with others.

Good encouragement here, to take a chance on receiving God’s love for us, and then pass that along to those around us. Thank you for your writing! Visiting from FMF as your neighbor this week.
I’m so glad you were encouraged, Heather! God’s love is so amazing!
Time and chance will overtake,
monsters will rise from the deep,
shields will fall and hands will shake,
and the strong will be as sheep
who have left the Shepherd’s fold,
a-wander in their prideful haut,
to meet the fate that was foretold
when they could choose, but then chose not
to kneel before the servant-king,
to take the gentle offered hand,
not to bow and kiss the ring,
but in their heart to understand
that the way past pain and fear
was to accept He held them dear.
He does hold us in His love, Andrew. He is such a kind Shepherd! And even the buffeting of sickness refines us in the Potter’s hand that we might be a vessel of His making and for His glory. He’s always working on us – until the work is done, then He can say it is finished, well done, enter into your eternal rest. Until then, chip and scrape, sand and file to get the jagged edges smooth. May He give us grace and strength as we are in the continued refinement of being His handiwork!
Lovely encouraging post, thanks
Just stopped by from FMF #12
I’m so glad you were encouraged, Heather!
Great post! It can feel like taking a chance to trust in God’s love when we haven’t experienced that elsewhere, but I love that in a sense there isn’t really an element of chance because he is always faithful, always loving, always good.
So true, Lesley! It feels like a chance, but in reality, His love is a “sure” guarantee because of His faithfulness.
Those verses in Ecclesiastes are some of my favorites! Thanks for the encouragement today….I’m a bit late getting around to all the link-up but it has been a blessing today!:)
I’m so glad you were encouraged and blessed today, Jennifer!
This is such a good reminder to take a chance on God’s love, which I still struggle to do. Thanks for sharing Lisa. Your FMF neighbour at #2 this week.
His love is so amazing, Kath, I pray we take a chance with His love every day of our lives.

I’m so glad you were encouraged, Dee!
Lisa, this is very encouraging. While we may feel like we are taking a chance on God’s love, the reality is there is no risk involved. He loves us with a certainty, is always faithful, sure, and present. May we remind ourselves of His amazing love each day. Blessings!
So true, Joanne, His love is so great it removes the risk of chance in loving Him.
Lisa, your words spoke to my soul today. Such encouraging words today ones I treasure.
I appreciate you sharing these encouraging words with Sweet Tea & Friends this month.
