Sharing is Caring

Sharing is Caring

Sharing is Caring

As children, we are taught that sharing our toys with a visiting neighbor or out-of-town guest is being kind and caring. As adults, we pass this teaching along because we don’t want to raise self-centered children, but loving and caring children.

Webster defines caring as “to be inclined; to have regard for; to give attention with a view to safety or protection; to be concerned about” which implies our watchful regard and attention to a person, animal or object which we are giving “oversight, implying concern for safety and prosperity.”

We apply this by caring for our children by providing food, shelter and clothing for them. We also provide an education for them. But head knowledge is not enough, we must instill a good work ethic. Yet, head knowledge and a good work ethic is not enough, we must impart a heart for loving, caring and showing kindness to others.

The Golden Rule is “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”

This comes from the Bible verse in Luke 6:31, “Treat others the same way you want them to treat you.”

Bible Verses about Caring

God Cares for Us

“Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your worries on Him, because He cares for you.” ~1 Peter 5:7 WEB

Jesus showed His great love for us by laying down His life for us that we might have eternal life with Him and the Father. “Greater love has no man than this that someone lay down his life for his friends.” ~John 15:13 WEB

We are to Care for Others

“One who is gracious to a poor man lends to the Lord, and He will repay him for his good deed.” ~Proverbs 19:17 NASB

“Therefore, whatever you desire for men to do to you, you shall also do to them; for this is the law and the prophets.” ~Matthew 7:12 WEB

“Be therefore imitators of God, as beloved children.” ~Ephesians 5:1 WEB

“For the whole Law [concerning human relationships] is complied with in the one precept, You shall love your neighbor as [you do] yourself.” ~Galatians 5:14 AMPC

“Bear (endure, carry) one another’s burdens and troublesome moral faults, and in this way fulfill and observe perfectly the law of Christ (the Messiah) and complete what is lacking [in your obedience to it].” ~Galatians 6:2 AMPC

“Let each of you esteem and look upon and be concerned for not [merely] his own interests, but also each for the interests of others.” ~Philippians 2:4 AMPC

“So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience; bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone; just as the Lord forgave you, so also should you. Beyond all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity.” ~Colossians 3:12-14 NASB

“But now faith, hope, love, abide these three; but the greatest of these is love.” ~1 Corinthians 13:13 NASB

Caring is Sharing the Good News

Nick Tucker states, “I love how csbible.com explains this: “God could have found many conduits to deliver His message, but He chooses to allow us to join Him in the work. It is an honor to be able to share the story of God’s grace and mercy that has been revealed to us in the Bible. May we love God’s Word so much that we cannot keep the good news to ourselves: this is one message we can share that never grows stale!’”

Prayer for Caring Hearts

Lord, we desire to reflect Your heart by laying down our lives for others in love, through prayer, and in obedient acts of service. We ask that Your Holy Spirit would fill us afresh and empower us to love freely, forgive completely, and serve as unto You for You say in Your Word,

“Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance. It is the Lord Christ whom you serve.”

We desire to love you “with all our heart, and with all our soul, and with all our strength, and with all our mind; and to love our neighbor as ourselves” just as You say in Your Word so that we might reflect your loving and caring heart towards others. Amen.1

  1. Sharing IS caring Lisa! And such beautiful ways to care for others is by sharing the gospel, our hearts and holdng them close in prayer. Too often busyness can push these simple acts to the bottom of our To Do list, but they are some of the most important ways we can love others well.
