My Favorite Gift Books

These are my favorite books to give as gifts to other people. I enjoy giving books for Birthdays, Christmas, Baby Showers or to sow into young people’s Summer Reading libraries. Purchasing books as a friend, as an Aunt, as a Mom and now as a grandmother – brings me great joy!

Favorite Gift Books for Babies

Debby Anderson Board Books: Our children so enjoyed these books when they were little ones! And now I enjoy sharing them with others. I usually buy these three board books and give them as a set at Baby Showers: Jesus Loves Me, Jesus is with Me, Jesus Loves the Little Children.

Favorite Gift Books for Young Children/Non-Readers

The Complete Adventures of Curious George: This is a fun little treasury book of a cute little monkey that is always getting into interesting situations.

Favorite Gift Books for Older Children/Readers

Little House Book Series by Laura Ingalls Wilder (box set for girls)
In Grandma’s Attic by Arleta Richardson (box set for girls)
Irene Howat Series for Girls: Ten Girls Who Made a Difference, Ten Girls Who Used their Talents, Ten Girls Who Didn’t Give In, Ten Girls Who Made History, Ten Girls Who Changed the World.
Irene Howat Series for Boys: Ten Boys Who Made a Difference, Ten Boys Who Used their Talents, Ten Boys Who Didn’t Give In, Ten Boys Who Made History, Ten Boys Who Changed the World.

Favorite Gift Books for Young Families

James Herriot’s Treasury for Children
This is an absolutely beautiful book to read aloud as you snuggle up with your little ones on the couch. James Herriot’s Treasure contains entertaining stories of a young veterinarian that travels around the English countryside helping animals. The people and animals portrayed are so interesting! A true delight for young and old!

I usually buy this to give to young families, but I highly recommend it for grandparents as it is a true ‘come sit close to me on the couch’ book. Also, this is a great book to give to missionaries on the field who have limited libraries as it feeds the heart, soul and eyes because of the heartwarming stories and delightful illustrations.
