Life can seem like a Raft in the Expansive Ocean

Do you ever feel like your life is adrift, carried by the ocean currents? Even when it feels like we are a lone raft being carried by the currents of life, the truth is, God is with us, and our times are in His hands.

“Who but God goes up to heaven and comes back down? Who holds the wind in His fist? Who wraps up the oceans in His cloak? Who has created the whole wide world? What is His name – and His son’s name? Tell me if you know!  Every word of God proves true. He is a shield to all who come to Him for protection.” ~Proverbs 30:4-5 NLT

We can trust God in the darkness and in the light for “even the darkness is not dark to You, and the night is as bright as the day. Darkness and light are alike to You.”¹

Reach out to God when your Raft Drifts

Even when it feels like we are drifting away from God, all we have to do is turn to Him and He responds to us for He says, “Draw near to Me and I will draw near to You.” And “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”²

“The heart of man is very much like the sea, it has its storms, it has its tides and in its depths, it has its pearls too.” ~Vincent van Gogh³

The Lord is so kind to us! He says, “Come now, and let us reason together,’ says the Lord, ‘Though your sins are as scarlet, they will be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they will be like wool.”

The Ocean of God’s Love

God’s love is everlasting. His love never fails. Like a bridegroom, He woos us and pursues us with His great love. He is longing to take us, His Bride-to-be, in His arms – to comfort us and to gently lead us in His love.

“Your unfailing love, O Lord, is as vast as the heavens; Your faithfulness reaches beyond the clouds. Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains, Your justice like the ocean depths. You care for people and animals alike, O Lord. How precious is Your unfailing love, O God! All humanity finds shelter in the shadow of Your wings.” ~Psalm 36:5-7 NLT

Because we know His great love, we desire to share it with others. It may seem small, but love is never wasted, and love never fails.

“We know only too well that what we are doing is nothing more than a drop in the ocean. But if the drop were not there, the ocean would be missing something.” ~Mother Teresa³

Whether we have a large boat with a small rudder or a small raft with an oar, when we allow God to be the captain of our vessel, we can rest assured we won’t drift aimlessly, but we will have divine direction. Let us allow our Lord to direct us in the ocean of His Love.
