Breakthrough Prayer for Uplifting Rest

Breakthrough Prayer

The world clamors for us to worry, strive, and focus on its chaos, but God calls us to trust Him, rest, and dwell in His Presence – a place of peace.

How do we breakthrough the chaos into peaceful rest? We “enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise.” By turning our gaze from chaos to the Lord, we find ourselves captivated by His Majesty.

As we stand in awe of Him, we acknowledge who He is, surrender ourselves – heart, mind, circumstances – to His guidance. As we release our cares and concerns to Him, we gain peace, perspective, and rest.

Our hearts overflow with thankfulness, gratitude, and appreciation for who He is and all that He has done. Our hearts lean into Him, and we pour out our hearts in prayer. In Him, we find breakthrough from chaos to rest and from turmoil to peace.

How to Pray for Breakthrough

1.      Begin with Adoration, Worship, and Praise.

“Holy, Holy, Holy, is the Lord God, the Almighty, who was and who is and who is to come.” ~Revelation 4:8b NASB

“Worthy are You, our Lord and our God, to receive glory and honor and power; for You created all things, and because of Your will, they existed, and were created.” ~Revelation 4:11 NASB

“Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing.” ~Revelation 5:12 NASB

2.      Continue with Confession, Surrender, and Release.

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart.” ~Jeremiah 1:5a NIV

“The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want. He leads me. He restores my soul; He guides me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.” ~Psalm 23:1, 2b, 3 NASB

3.      Enter with Thankfulness, Gratitude, and Appreciation.

“Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him, and bless His name.” ~Psalm 100:3 WEB

“The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and He helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise Him.” ~Psalm 28:7 NIV

“For I am the Lord your God, who upholds your right hand, Who says to you, ‘Do not fear, I will help you.’” ~Isaiah 41:13 NASB

“Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new.” ~2 Corinthians 5:17 WEB

4.      Lean into Supplication, Prayer, and Intercession.

Breakthrough comes as we ask for refreshment, renewal, and strength.

“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy-laden and overburdened, and I will cause you to rest. [I will ease and relieve and refresh your souls.] Take My yoke upon you and learn of Me, for I am gentle (meek) and humble (lowly) in heart, and you will find rest (relief and ease and refreshment and recreation and blessed quiet) for your souls. For My yoke is wholesome (useful, good – not harsh, hard, sharp, or pressing, but comfortable, gracious, and pleasant), and My burden is light and easy to be borne.” ~Matthew 11:28-30 AMPC

“Let’s therefore draw near with boldness to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and may find grace for help in time of need.” ~Hebrews 4:16 WEB

“He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” ~Isaiah 40:29-31 NIV

Breakthrough comes as we pause, wait, and listen.

“Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.” ~James 4:8a WEB

“Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him.” ~Psalm 37:7a NASB

“My soul, wait only upon God and silently submit to Him; for my hope and expectation are from Him.” ~Psalm 62:5 AMPC

Breakthrough comes as we speak His Words of Life and stand on promises from His Word.

“My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the Rock and firm Strength of my heart and my Portion forever.” ~Psalm 73:26 AMPC

“You will guard him and keep him in perfect and constant peace whose mind [both its inclination and its character] is stayed on You, because he commits himself to You, leans on You, and hopes confidently in You.” ~Isaiah 26:3 AMPC

“Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.’” ~Psalm 91:1-2 NIV

“Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, I give to you. Don’t let your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful.” ~John 14:27 WEB

“And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.” ~Philippians 4:7 WEB

Breakthrough Prayer

Lord, we agree with all of heaven, “Holy, holy, holy, are You, Lord God Almighty. You are worthy to receive glory, honor, power, riches, might, and blessing for all things come from You, the Creator.

And because You are He who is who was and who is to come, we adore, worship, and praise Your Holy Name. (Adoration)

Lord, we acknowledge You created us in Your image. Lord, we surrender every broken part of ourselves and ask You to restore our hearts. We release our anxieties, worries, and concerns to You, knowing You love and care for us.

Lord, we acknowledge You are the Good Shepherd who leads and guides us in paths of righteousness. (Confession)

Lord, we are thankful that You make us new creations in Christ. Gratitude fills our hearts because You sent Your Son, the Lamb of God, to take away our sins. And in Christ’s Name, and by His Blood, we are made righteous.

We appreciate how you lead, guide, and strengthen us daily. (Thanksgiving)

Lord, we draw near to You, knowing You are the Faithful One and will respond by drawing near to us. Lord, our hope and expectation are of You, so we wait patiently for You, resting in Your Presence.

Lord, we come to You in confidence, casting our heavy burdens on You and taking in exchange Your easy yoke. In humility, You lead us to Your green pastures and beside Your still waters. You refresh our spirits and restore our souls in Your Presence.

Lord, when our physical bodies fail us and our hearts are tempted to fear, we look to You for help. We have nothing to fear for You are with us. You are our Rock, our Strength, our Portion forever. We take refuge in Your shadow, Almighty God, and find rest in You.

Therefore, we will not be troubled, nor fear, for You are with us. Your peace guards our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus, so our spirits and our souls are at rest in You. Amen. (Supplication)

  1. Amen! Keeping my eyes on Him and learning to trust Him with my burdens. This struck me today: “Let’s therefore draw near with boldness to the throne of grace” in Hebrews – with boldness! As though we are our Father’s beloved child and always makes time for us. Not tip-toeing, wondering if we’re going to get in trouble! Thank you for the beautiful, powerful encouragement and prayer!

    1. His heart of love toward us is absolutely amazing, Marleigh! He calls us to come to Him boldly…no shrinking back in shame or fear. We are to come boldly into His Presence because we are clothed in His righteousness.

  2. Beautiful encouragement, Lisa! You write: “By turning our gaze from chaos to the Lord” – holding on to His words, His love – and praising Him in the storm! The act of turning our gaze off our circumstances or the heart-pains – and putting them on His goodness! Amen, me friend! Amen!

  3. I like the thought of breakthrough prayers. I never thought about it like this. Pausing to reflect today. And praying with you today.
Thanks so much for sharing with Sweet Tea & Friends this month sweet friend. I’m so happy you’re here.
