Become New Creations
How do we become new in Christ? God makes us clean and new. We become new creations.
“Come now, and let us reason together,’ says the Lord, ‘Though your sins are as scarlet, they will be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they will be like wool.” ~Isaiah 1:18 NASB
“Therefore if any person is [ingrafted] in Christ (the Messiah) he is a new creation (a new creature altogether); the old [previous moral and spiritual condition] has passed away. Behold, the fresh and new has come!” ~2 Corinthians 5:17 AMPC
Become Children of God
“When a person encounters Jesus Christ and surrenders to Him as Lord and Savior, that individual is now ‘in Christ,’ joined to Jesus in His death and resurrection. All things have become new illustrates the beginning of our transformation – our inward renewal and regeneration – that will culminate in the fullness of our salvation to be experienced in eternity.”1
“But to as many as did receive and welcome Him, He gave the right [the authority, the privilege] to become children of God, that is, to those who believe in (adhere to, trust in, and rely on) His name.” ~John 1:12 AMP
“For you are all children of God, through faith in Christ Jesus.” ~Galatians 3:26 WEB
“So you are no longer a bondservant, but at son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.” ~Galatians 4:7 WEB
Become Christians – Christ Lives in Us
“I have been crucified with Christ, and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. That life which I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me, and gave Himself up for me.” ~Galatians 2:20 WEB
“For we are His workmanship [His own master work, a work of art], created in Christ Jesus [reborn from above – spiritually transformed, renewed, ready to be used] for good works, which God prepared [for us] beforehand [taking paths which He set], so that we would walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us].” ~Ephesians 2:10 AMP
To become a new creation, we allow God to cleanse us, then graft us into His Son, Jesus Christ. Through Christ, we become God’s children, and fellow-heirs with Christ Jesus. As we surrender to the Lord and the power of His Holy Spirit, we allow Him to live through us, and we become changed into His likeness. We can trust that the Author of our faith will be faithful to finish writing our life’s story for He is the Finisher of our faith.
“Looking away [from all that will distract] to Jesus, Who is the Leader and the Source of our faith [giving the first incentive for our belief] and is also its Finisher [bringing it to maturity and perfection]. He, for the joy [of obtaining the prize] that was set before Him, endured the cross, despising and ignoring the shame, and is now seated at the right hand of the throne of God.” ~ Hebrews 12:2 AMPC
“Do not fear, for I am with you; do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” ~Isaiah 41:10 NASB
“For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.” ~Philippians 1:6 NASB
By His grace, we can become all He designed and created us to be – like Him.

‘Become like Christ ‘, how can it be
that I might aim to be like God?
A sinful man, that’s surely me,
pursuer of a life so flawed
that I look back in later years
when vision comes a little clearer,
and on that weathered face are tears
in time’s merciless bright mirror.
But that’s the opening He needs,
wet clay that yields to Potter’s hand,
for always in me were the seeds
of glory from a distant land
which will allow His heart to shape
the form I could not hope to ape.
So true, Andrew!

“As we surrender to the Lord and the power of His Holy Spirit, we allow Him to live through us, and we become changed into His likeness.” – this line really resonated with me. It is a journey. Striving to become more like Jesus. But surrendering to the Lord is the key. Amen and amen.
Surrender to the Lord and His Holy Spirit is a key, Valerie. Yes, it is definitely a journey. May the Lord bless you!
So many good reminders of truth here, Lisa. It’s always encouraging when you read these familiar verses within the context of a certain theme, like become. You notice things you hadn’t noticed before. I love that about God’s Word – there’s always more. This one jumped out particularly for me today. “But to as many as did receive and welcome Him, He gave the right [the authority, the privilege] to become children of God, that is, to those who believe in (adhere to, trust in, and rely on) His name.” ~John 1:12 AMP Thanks for sharing. Visting from #3 this week.
That’s so true, Kath! We glean a new perspective or capture the depth of His love or hear His heartbeat for us; the Word draws us deeper and deeper into His love.

Lisa, this right here: “As we surrender to the Lord and the power of His Holy Spirit, we allow Him to live through us, and we become changed into His likeness. We can trust that the Author of our faith will be faithful to finish writing our life’s story for He is the Finisher of our faith.”
This explanation just spoke to me. Allowing the Spirit to live through us is powerful. And knowing that The Author of our faith is always faithful to finish writing our stories is such a comforting thought. Thank you!
He is so kind to us, Jeanne! He is faithful to complete what He has started in us, and that is a comforting truth.
Amen! Thank you Lisa.
Blessings, Jennifer
