Speak Lord; I’m Listening – Daily Bite-Size Encouragement – Day 14
Toward is the “readiness to do or learn,” according to Webster. Let’s look at God’s Word for understanding our readiness to do or learn.
T– “Turn my heart toward Your testimonies, and not to dishonest gain.”1 Is an excellent scripture for us to cry out to God.
O – Oh may “The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you; the Lord make His face shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you; the Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).”2 I pray this for you.
W – “We ought always to give thanks to God for you, as is only fitting, because your faith is greatly enlarged, and the love of each one of you toward one another grows ever greater.”3 Paul encourages us to have a grateful attitude and a heart of growing love towards one another.
A – “And let us consider and give attentive, continuous care to watching over one another, studying how we may stir up (stimulate and incite) to love and helpful deeds and noble activities, not forsaking or neglecting to assemble together [as believers], as is the habit of some people, but admonishing (warning, urging, and encouraging) one another, and all the more faithfully as you see the day approaching.”4
R – “Rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person, someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”5 I’m so thankful that God’s love made a pathway for us to be restored to Him. And I’m so thankful that Jesus was willing to pay the price for our redemption. And we can lay down our lives for one another in prayer.
D – “Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God and receive from Him anything we ask because we keep His commands and do what pleases Him.”6
Let us set our hearts toward the Lord, and with a grateful heart, let us pray for one another and spur each other forward in love and good deeds.7
