Peace can seem elusive, but it is attainable. I live in peace, and so can you.
Many years ago, I remember struggling with anxious thoughts and fears. And I felt like the Lord gave me a way to be released from the weight and oppression that always accompanied these fears and anxieties.
God showed me a picture of a fishing line with a hook on the end. As the hook went by, I felt the Lord’s encouragement not to take it. To refuse to be ‘reeled in’ by the enemies suggestions.
As I pondered this nugget of wisdom, I felt that if I took the bait and was reeled in, I would be ‘hung out to dry’ or abandoned and left alone.
Taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ Jesus leads to peace
These Truths started me on my journey of ‘taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ’. As I daily began to refuse to be ‘hooked’ by anxieties, fears, and insecurities; I found great freedom. The release of the weight and oppression was lifted from my mind and emotions.
This freedom allowed me to experience the peace of God daily. Every single day, I refused the ‘hooks,’ took God’s hand and walked with Him. I learned how to walk, then skip, then run with Him in the Spirit.
We can live in His peace at all times
Even now, decades later, any time anxiety or fear tries to rob my peace; I stop. I get still in my heart. I give the Lord what is bothering me. I refuse the hook, and I receive His grace.
If the anxiety or fear looms large in my face, then I cry out for more of His grace. More Grace and more GRace and more GRAce and more GRACe until the GRACE is greater than the ‘stealer of peace’.
This is how we live in freedom.
This is how our soul lives in rest.
This is how we daily live in His peace.
By refusing every hook.
By refusing the spirit of anxiety.
By refusing oppression.
By receiving His peace.
By receiving His grace.
By taking His provided way of escape, and by living in the liberty of His Holy Spirit.
This Freedom is for everyone
This isn’t just for me. It’s for everybody! Each of us can refuse the hooks of the enemy. We can refuse the spirit of anxiety. We can refuse every spirit of fear. We can refuse to walk in the flesh. We choose You, O Lord, and we choose to walk in Your Spirit.
We cry out for more of Your grace, O Lord! We cry out for YOUR GRACE which is GREATER than every anxiety and every doubt and every fear! We choose to live in Your peace, O Lord, no matter what!
Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank you that with every temptation, You provide a way of escape. Lord Jesus, thank you for Your GRACE! Thank you that there is now no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus.
Thank you for the power of the Resurrected Lord that is within us! We refuse the spirit of fear. We refuse the spirit of anxiety. We refuse doubt and unbelief. We choose to believe that Jesus within us is greater than he that is in the world.
We receive Your power in this moment to refuse every hook and to take Your hand. We receive Your GRACE to move forward with You. We receive Your peace that passes all understanding and now guards our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. We choose to walk with You, O Lord. And we choose to walk in Your rest, in Your peace and in Your grace. Amen.

As we enter the final days of this election year, I find the “hook” of anxiety and fear tempting to my spirit.
But I find God’s Peace with a constant reading of God’s Word and with the assurance that Jesus within us is greater than he that is in the world. Jill
