Created to Worship
Every human heart is designed with a longing to respond to something greater than itself. Whether through music, movement, silence, or awe, we instinctively reach toward the One who formed us. Worship is a joyful, reverent, wholehearted response to the God who loves us, saves us, and walks with us in every season of life.
Wonderful worship and shameless praise invite us into a deeper experience of God’s goodness. They draw us beyond routine and into relationship, beyond self-consciousness and into surrender, beyond emotion and into truth. When we worship, we align our spirit, soul, and body with the reality of who God is and how His presence transforms us.
These five reasons remind us why worship is essential, life-giving, and healing.

Reason One: The God of Love is Worthy
God is both our compassionate Good Shepherd and Righteous Judge. His love poured out on us invites a response of a wholehearted devotion resulting in thanksgiving arising in our hearts, praise flowing from our lips, and worship rising in our hearts to honor His holy Presence.
Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him, and bless His name. ~Psalm 100:4 WEB
When our eyes are fixed on His majesty, our hearts naturally overflow with love, adoration, and honor towards Him.

Reason Two: Our Spirit Cries out to God
Deep within every Believer is a spirit awakened by the Spirit of God. Our human spirit longs for communion with God’s Holy Spirit. Worship, praise, and adoration are the language by which our spirit expresses itself to our Creator. It is the cry of our spirit to the Living God who breathed life into us.
In worship, our human spirit finds alignment, rest, and renewal. It is where we become aware of God’s Presence and respond to His voice; it is a natural expression as we draw near to Him.

Reason Three: Our Soul Longs to be Authentic
Our soul (mind, will, and emotions) longs for a place where it can be honest, vulnerable, and real before God. Worship and praise invite us to bring our whole selves before Him without pretense or performance.
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly… singing with grace in your heart to the Lord. ~Colossians 3:16 WEB
Be filled with the Spirit…singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord. ~Ephesians 5:18c-19 WEB
As Scripture fills our hearts, our worship becomes an authentic expression of truth. We sing, we pray, and we declare honor to Him who knows us and loves us.

Reason Four: Our Body Longs to Express Praise
God created us, and our physical expressions often reveal the posture of our hearts. Whether dancing like King David or bowing like the Apostle John, our bodies naturally respond to the greatness of God.
Scripture describes various postures and expressions of praise, adoration, and worship before God: kneeling, standing, bowing, raising hands, and dancing. Scripture speaks of musical instruments and singing playing a significant role in our praise and worship.
Praise the Lord! Praise God in His sanctuary; praise Him in His mighty heavens. Praise Him for His mighty acts, praise Him according to [the abundance of] His greatness. Praise Him with trumpet sound; praise Him with harp and lyre. Praise Him with tambourine and dancing; praise Him with stringed instruments and flute. Praise Him with resounding cymbals; praise Him with stringed instruments and flute. Praise Him with resounding cymbals; praise Him with loud cymbals. Let everything that has breath and every breath of life praise the Lord! Praise the Lord! (Hallelujah!) ~Psalm 150 AMP
Even in the Lord’s Supper, we worship with our bodies as we remember Christ’s sacrifice and receive His promise of healing.
For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes. ~1 Corinthians 11:26 WEB
Whether quiet or expressive, internal or external, our physical expression of worship becomes an offering of gratitude to God our Father for all that Christ has done for us.

Reason Five: Worship Moves Beyond Our Feelings
Worship is not limited to times of joy, and praise is not limited to times of victory. When we choose worship in our pain, we declare our trust in the unchanging character of God. Worship moves beyond our feelings of grief to a declaration of trust for who He is – the great I AM.
Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. ~James 4:8a WEB
Therefore, let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. ~Hebrews 4:16 NASB
The Lord is near to the broken hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. ~Psalm 34:18 NASB
Worship lifts our eyes from our current circumstances to the One who holds us. Standing in awe of Him becomes even more powerful in seasons of grief, weakness, or pain. Worship strengthens our faith, anchors our hope, and reminds us that God is near, even in our suffering. As we push past our feelings and draw near to Him, He faithfully draws near to us with comfort, mercy, and strength.

A Life Shaped by Worship
Wonderful worship and shameless praise are not fleeting moments or emotional highs. They are the natural overflow of a heart awakened to the goodness of God. When we recognize His worthiness, respond to the cry of our spirit, allow our soul to be honest before Him, express our devotion with our bodies, and choose to worship beyond our feelings, we step into a deeper, more transformative relationship with Him.
Worship becomes the place where heaven meets earth in our everyday lives. It is where truth reshapes our thinking, where love softens our hearts, where hope rises again, and where God’s presence becomes our refuge and strength.
May we be a people who worship without hesitation, praise without shame, and adore Him with every part of who we are, for He alone is worthy of all our praise, adoration, and honor.

Prayer
Lord, we thank You for the gift of Your Son, Jesus Christ; for the work of the Cross; for salvation; for Your resurrection; and for healing. Lord, we come with hearts of gratitude for Your generous love, never-ending grace, Your lovingkindness, and Your faithfulness.
Lord, teach us to worship You with all of our spirit, soul, and body that our lives might be a living and holy offering that honors You. Lord, awaken our spirits to respond to Your Holy Spirit’s leading and to Your still, small voice. Teach us to trust You no matter our circumstances or feelings.
Lord, we desire to worship You from a heart of love that is completely free from the spirit of fear. Lord, may we praise You in complete abandonment and without shame as Kind David. And may our hearts be surrendered in complete trust as Your disciples did, even in the face of persecution and death. Lord, may our hearts worship You freely, for You deserve all glory, honor, and praise.

Lisa, I love that fact that worship moves us beyond our feelings. So many times, when my soul has felt downcast, the choice of worship has lifted me beyond the feelings of discouragement to full hope in an all-powerful, all loving God.
It is amazing, Donna, how worshipping Almighty God shifts our perspective and changes our outlook upon our current circumstances.
It is amazing how much worship does in our lives. It truly can lift us out of our feelings of discouragement and fill us with hope and peace. May I always take time each day to worship our Lord. Blessings!
It is incredible, Joanne, how worship lifts up the Lord and lifts up our spirits and souls alongside it.
“When we choose worship in our pain, we declare our trust in the unchanging character of God. Worship moves beyond our feelings of grief to a declaration of trust for who He is – the great I AM.“
A sacrifice of praise and worship in the darkest and scary places. There’s not a sweeter salve….
Psalm 23 He sets a table before me in the presence of my enemies.
So true, Lisa, an offering of praise and worship during times of pain are a salve to our souls and a strength to our spirits.
Oh, that all believers would live a life of “wonderful worship and shameless praise”. What a different world we would be living in. I wonder how I can apply this philosophy as I learn to “stay” in 2026.
Yes, Barb, to stay in worship and to stay in an attitude of praise would be a wonderful foundation for 2026.
Thank you, Lisa, for these amazing insights on worship! Wow, I think in my life worship has helped me to KNOW the Father more! The more I worship Him, the more I love Him, the more I desire to make Him everything and to know Him! We just cannot outgive the Lord!!
Worship does lead us to the Father’s Presence, Karen, and deeper in love with the Lord.
Complete abandonment, without a spirit of fear – and I am thinking that is talking about self-consciousness–oh, how I long for my feet not to be hindered by self-consciousness in my praise for God. Maybe that is a prayer that I need to pray – that my feet would move with the same abandon as my inward leapings of praise and worship.
A good prayer, indeed, Maryleigh!
It is in worship of Him–and in His presence–that is where I find the joy of the Lord. I’m not a singer, though I try. I’m not coordinated enough to be a dancer. I have found fulfillment dancing my praise with words. One day, He will show me how to dance praise! Worship is often an elephant in the room – thank you for addressing the beauty and importance of it.
I like your description of dancing with words, Maryleigh! A true offering of praise!
We receive a number of blessings from our worship of God. And isn’t that just like him? We seek to honor him with our worship, and he turns right around and honors us when we do!
It is just like Him, Nancy!
