June’s Journey

June's Journey

June’s Journey has me joining Share Four Somethings in 2022. Share Four Somethings has four categories for reflection: something loved, something gleaned, something braved (or saved), and something achieved.

Something Loved – June’s Journey

I’m embracing the Lord in my early morning time in the flower garden. Though my time outdoors in the garden are now very short because of higher temperatures and because of nearby road construction (which has their work crew parking their loud, stinky diesel trucks in the field behind my house).

I’m choosing to be glad and embrace the 5 to 30 minutes I have of quietness and beauty in nature. I love that the Lord meets me in the garden. And however short or long it is – it’s beautiful!

Thankfully, I am able to enjoy the flower garden through our windows throughout the day. And to be honest, something loved is all about our journey with Him!

Have you had time to enjoy any gardens this month?

Something Gleaned – June’s Journey

I re-listened to the audio-drama of Pilgrim’s Progress I – Christian. The overall perspective of our Christian walk, our surrendered life, how the Lord strengthens us to fight battles and overcome obstacles, and the grace given to us to walk out our faith alongside Him. Christian’s journey to the celestial city was very encouraging!

Now, I’m listening to Pilgrim’s Progress II – Christiana. Both of the original Pilgrim Progress books were written by John Bunyan; Christian around 1678 and Christiana around 1684.

These audio-dramas were based on a modern-day script written by Jim Pappas. These are known as the most listener-friendly recordings of John Bunyan’s classic works. They were recorded using fifty-six voice actors, and they incorporated orchestra music which adds to the dramatic effect of the stories.

Our family listened to the audiocassettes of Pilgrim’s Progress in the winter when our children were young. The children would sit around the dining room table and color while we listened to Pilgrim’s Progress as a family. It was a great way to pass the long winter evenings.

Thankfully, Audible mastered a copy of Jim Pappas work in 2018. Currently, I am listening to this audio-drama while baking, cleaning, driving or resting. These are such encouraging books!

If you are interested in these audio-dramas, you will find the links in the references. Believe me, they will encourage you in your faith journey!

Something Braved – June’s Journey

Our healthy family has been dealing with various health issues this year. Going from everyone being healthy to multiple family members dealing with multiple health issues has been a new experience for our family. Thankfully, we are journeying through these health issues together.

I’m thankful the Lord says we can come to Him when our journey through life causes us to become weary, and He will give us rest.

“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.” ~Matthew 11:28 NASB

We can trust Him in every situation.

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” ~Philippians 4:6-7 NASB

We choose not to focus on a disease, a diagnosis, suggested treatments, or surgeries, but on Him.

“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.” ~Philippians 4:8 NASB

Something Achieved – June’s Journey

I feel like staying in peace in the midst of all the turbulence in the world and health issues in our home has been a life-giving choice that might be considered an achievement by some. There are many temptations to be anxious or fearful, but the Lord promises us peace.

“Peace I leave with you; My [perfect] peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be afraid. [Let My perfect peace calm you in every circumstance and give you courage and strength for every challenge.]” ~John 14:27 AMP

I’m thankful He is faithful to give us rest, comfort and peace for every situation we face. We don’t have anything to fear with Him by our side in this journey called life.

The Lord Bless You

Thank you for joining me in Share Four Somethings for June’s Journey. I look forward to hearing all that you have loved, gleaned, braved (or saved), and achieved this month – either in your post or in the comments below.

My prayer is for the Lord to bless you in your journey through life.

“Fear not [there is nothing to fear], for I am with you; do not look around you in terror and be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen and harden you to difficulties, yes, I will help you; yes, I will hold you up and retain you with My [victorious] right hand of rightness and justice.” ~Isaiah 41:10 AMP

  1. I don’t like gardening but do appreciate spending time in gardens. My own front garden is rather chaotic and wild, but it’s still a welcome place to watch the sunset or the birds that visit the feeders. Glad the Lord has been carrying you and your family through the health challenges you’ve faced this year, and has been faithful in giving you peace!
    Visiting today from SFS

    1. Gardens are such enjoyable places, especially if cared for by others! Ha! Thank you, Kym, He has been faithful to us.

    1. Pilgrim’s Progress is so encouraging, isn’t it Barb? Yes, they are starting to haul-off all the equipment, I’m so glad!

  2. Those audio-dramas sound so interesting. I really need to check those out. I love that you are claiming peace. These days are filled with much to cause us anxiety – but so glad that Christ is the Prince of Peace and the calmer of our hearts. What a wonderful place to meet with Him each morning – in the garden. I think I will try that tomorrow morning:) Here’s to a bit healthier second half to this year!

    1. I just finished the second Pilgrim’s Progress, Jennifer, and it was so encouraging! I hope you get the opportunity to listen to both of them. Yes, the Prince of Peace is so faithful! Have a wonderful time with the Lord in your garden tomorrow morning.

  3. Finding that quiet time in nature with the Lord is a treasure, Lisa. I’m sorry your family has dealt with health issues this year. Being at peace during such times can be difficult so that’s wonderful that you’re finding it.

  4. Loved sharing your June Journeys with you, Lisa! My favorite place to have quiet time is in my garden! I truly feel like God meets me there. Pilgrim’s Progress has to be an all-time family favorite for us. I read it countless times to the children when they were young, and I never tire of the story.
I am so sorry for all of the family health issues, and am praying for the healing presence of God for you all. Choosing and maintaining peace in the midst of trial truly is a gracious blessing of the Lord! May He continue to hold you in His perfect peace as your mind continues stayed on Him.

    1. Isn’t He so sweet to meet us in the garden, Donna? And He is so gracious to give us peace and to guard our hearts and minds in Him. It makes such a difference!

  5. Thank you for the suggestion of the audio dramas. If I can find them, I’d like to give them a try. Sounds wonderful for a family evening.

    1. I put the audio drama links in the references, Jan, so that they would be easy to find. They do make for an enjoyable evening as a family. Happy listening!

  6. I enjoy time in my daylilies, but the allergy season has been brutal this year, so I am not doing it as often as I usually would. Sorry to hear of your family’s health struggles. Hopefully, July will be better for you all. Have a great weekend.

  7. I’m sorry for the construction noise, Lisa, but I’m glad you’re able to get in some garden time before it starts up in the morning. Lately, deadheading the petunias in my flower pots has become a favorite daily task … even if it’s 95 degrees outside, there’s something very satisfying and calming about it. 🙂 I’m sorry for the health challenges your family has been facing … and yes, experiencing peace in the midst of all that plus the world is definitely an achievement!

    1. Gardening does bring a certain satisfaction and calming, Lois, I’m so thankful for His kindness toward us as we draw near to Him.
