Each of us choose every day whether we will serve an amazing and loving God, ourselves, or another person. May the Lord give us the grace to choose Him!
Joshua encouraged God’s people to serve the Lord:
“Now, therefore, fear the Lord and serve Him in sincerity and truth; and put away the gods which your fathers served beyond the River in Egypt, and serve the Lord. If it is disagreeable in your sight to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves today whom you will serve: whether the gods which your fathers served which were beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living; but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” ~Joshua 24:14-15 NASB
Jesus said the most important principal is:
“You shall love the Lord your God will all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind (intellect).” ~Matthew 22:37 AMPC
To choose – as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord – this bold statement takes courage! It is a declaration with the mouth what the heart has decided.
“For out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.” ~Matthew 12:34b WEB
Today, you and I must choose whom we will serve. May we choose the Amazing One, the Loving and Majestic God to love and serve with all our heart, soul, mind and strength. He is worthy of our love!

The God I know would get the blues
and be really quite depressed
if He saw I did not choose
to work with Him past all the rest
of things that do compete for time
(like, right now, I want to sleep!),
but He knows that the choice is mine,
and He hopes that I will keep
up my end of the deal,
that in exchange for my salvation
I’ll keep it loud and keep it real,
regardless of what altercation
comes from the secular brain-dead,
or from my longing for my bed
I’m so glad we don’t have to earn our salvation or His love, Andrew! He gives His abundant love generously to us. We are a blessed people!

I have “stumbled” across this Scripture a couple of times this week Lisa! I think it fits your post.
“If anyone serves Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also. If anyone serves Me, him My Father will honor.”-John 12:26

I thought of Joshua also. It does take a bit of courage to choose God over the world.

Amen, Lisa. May God helps us to always choose Him! We need to keep our eyes on Him and not on ourselves or our circumstances. He loves us more than we will ever realize and will never let us go. How can we not choose Him? Blessings to you! Great post! I’ve never heard that song, but it’s beautiful!
