April Showers of Flowers

April Showers of Flowers

April Showers of Flowers has me joining Share Four Somethings in 2022 as we reflect on: something loved, something gleaned, something braved, and something achieved.

I’m thoroughly enjoying walking with the Lord in revamping our little side garden, thus the title for this month’s Four Somethings, April Showers of Flowers. The spring rain and accompanying sunshine is causing the roses to break forth with an abundance of flower blossoms that release their intoxicating fragrance.

Something Loved

I accompanied a friend to JESUS at the Sight & Sound Theater in Branson, Missouri. This inspiring performance brings the Word of God to the stage. The cast’s acting, singing, and choreography were amazing! And their moving sets with 3D movie feature backgrounds were astounding! Altogether, JESUS was startling impressive from every angle! I highly recommend this phenomenal experience to anyone who can see this amazing production before it ends October 31st.

Something Gleaned

In preparation for Easter, Donna at Serenity in Suffering shared An Encounter with Unspeakable Grief – Serenity in Suffering Donna paints a picture of Jesus seeking comfort: with His Father in prayer, with His disciples in companionship, and through the familiar surroundings of the Garden of Gethsemane. Jesus life was not taken from Him, but instead, He freely offered His life for us. Donna’s post brought tears to my eyes because she so eloquently painted a picture of Jesus great love for us in His journey to and upon the Cross.

In preparation for Easter, Becky shared What’s So Good About Good Friday? – YouTube A presentation of all that God did for us on the Cross. Christ has fulfilled all the wrongdoing of humanity, and through His blood He has reconciled us to the Father. It is finished! And because of His finished work on the Cross, we can call it Good Friday. Cross of Christ

Something Braved

I accompanied a family member to the hospital for a heart procedure. About halfway through the procedure, a code blue sounded over the intercom system, then a chaplain walked down the hallway. Oh my! I had to take my thoughts captive and refuse fear as I waited for the doctor to come give me a report of the surgical procedure. Thankfully, all went well! And I trust my prayers for whoever was experiencing the code blue was beneficial.

Something Achieved

March and April had me walking with the Lord in writing a Bible study. Hallelujah! It is finished! Well, part one is finished. The writing is complete, and now I’m on part two, working on a book cover and all the little details involved in actually bringing the finished Bible study to print. But today, let us celebrate that step one is finished! Hallelujah!

The Lord Bless You

My prayer is for the Lord to bless you,

“And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.”1

May April shower you with the awareness of His sweet Presence. And may you experience ‘April Showers of Flowers’ and experience the beauty of His creation with Him.

Thank you for joining me in Share Four Somethings for April 2022. I look forward to hearing what you have loved, gleaned, braved and achieved this month – either in your post or in the comments below.

  1. Lisa, such a great month for you! I went to a performance at Sight and Sound in Lancaster, PA (where I live) about 20 years ago, and will never forget it.
I totally can’t imagine how terrifying hearing that Code Blue sound when your loved one was in a heart procedure! Working at the hospital I can get rather used to such things, and forget how scary they are. Praise God He held you close during that time!
The Bible study sounds great, but there is something about finishing one up that feels so good! Thank you for your kind words about my post and sharing that here. I praise God it was such a blessing to you!

  2. That JESUS performance sounds amazing. I’ve never been to Branson, but I know several people who have, and they love it.

My husband had a heart checkup yesterday at our local Heart Center and he heard a call for a code blue while he was there. He asked the staff about it and they said they have something like that daily. 🙁

Congrats on getting part one finished of your Bible study!

  3. Congrats on completing step one of your Bible study, Lisa … that’s definitely worth celebrating! I was so impressed with the entire Sight and Sound production in Branson when we went last summer. Down to the sweet older folks who do nothing but make sure the bathrooms are clean. 🙂 And I can imagine your reaction when the Code Blue happened at the hospital … there are so many opportunities to take thoughts captive when you are waiting for someone in an operating or procedure room, aren’t there?

    1. I’m so glad you were able to enjoy the Sight and Sound production, Lois, as it is so amazing! There are many opportunities to take our thoughts captive, and hospitals definitely intensify our intentionality in that area!
